Our week with Granny and Opa

After Adam was born Granny and Opa stayed for a week to help everyone, especially Mommy, get adjusted to life with 2 babies.   It was really great to have all of the help with diapering, bathing, feeding, cooking, laundry, and cleaning.  Makes me think...how in the heck am I crazy enough to think I can do this on my own?!  It will, however, work out!  God has plans right?! He never said this would be easy, but it's definitely a new kind of fun!  Here are a few highlights from Adam's 1st week home!

Reagan's new favorite pair of shoes, thank you Kari!  She wore these rain boots (with her shorts) everytime she went outside.  This was her 4-wheeler riding outfit.  She became a big fan of the pre-nap ride on the 4-wheeler with Daddy or Opa.
Yep...she's stuck!  She somehow managed to get under the barstool and we couldn't get her out without lifting the barstool.  We thought it was funny, Reagan...not so much!
Funny little man...funny little face...funny little hat.
No, she's not crying.  Her allergies were so BAD this week that her eyes were just watering streams of tears!
Our little helper bee!  She really wanted Adam to take his pacifier, but he really didn't care about it!
Here...turn your head like this!
This is hard work, but I love my new baby brother!
I give up!  Thanks for the new paci!
It was a fun week full of memories and millions of pictures!  I only posted a few because I'm pretty sure most of you don't want to see my babies move a 1/4 of an inch!

Acts of Nature

That's what Geico calls the golf ball size hail that hit our house the other day!  The kids had just gone to bed when we sat down to eat dinner with Granny and Opa.  All of a sudden, the sky got dark and golf balls started bouncing off of the ground, the roof, the kitchen windows, and (as we found out shortly after it stopped) our cars.  We picked up a few of the hail pieces that were on the patio.
The BIG ones that were close to baseball size were still out in our yard where we dare not run!  After the storm passed we went outside to assess the damage.  My dad's truck (on which he had made NO payments) got the worst of the damage.  No estimate back on it yet.  My little Xterra had a little over $2100 worth if damage.  Not quite totaled!  The truck had $1500 worth.  And our camper had a few holes knocked in the roof and some lights and speakers busted out, but we haven't gotten an estimated on it either!  So...that was a rather expensive "Act of Nature."  It did, however, make for a thrilling 15 minutes during the storm!

I scream...you scream...

We all scream for ice cream!  Reagan got to experience her FIRST ice cream cone!  After our nutritious meal at Jason's Deli we all opted to ruin it with an ice cream cone!  Reagan wasn't too sure what to do with the ice cream at first, but after carefully watching the master...
We have success!
Now we just have to figure out what to do with this cone thing!
Eating it from the side doesn't seem to be working!
All the while...Adam is less than thrilled!
It was a fun and exciting moment (for Mom & Granny)!

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day was extra fun this year with Reagan and the arrival of Baby Adam.  Today was his actual due date.  Though it would have been a great mother's day gift, I'm sure glad he decided to come a few days early to be around for the celebration.  My Mom and Dad are still here with use since Adam's birth and my mom planned a nice Mother's Day meal.  We invited Aaron's mom and dad and his grandparents.  Here are a few pictures from the day.

It was a great day to share with all the moms!  I am so thankful to have all of the wonderful women in my life that I have learned from and been influenced by!  Thank you God for our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, etc.

Big sisters rock

Reagan has stepped into the role as big sister like the sweet little girl that she is.  So...heres to the best big sister EVER!

This is Reagan's portrait!  She always laughs when you show her your drawing and then erases it!
My sweet little girl.  Coming to check on brother.
Guess who's hiding behind the curtain?!

Welcome Adam Lee!

Adam Lee Barr arrived in this world on May 5th, 2010 at 2:38pm.  He weighs 8 lbs. 2 oz. and is 20 inches long.  In comparison to Reagan he was 2 oz. lighter and 1/4 inch longer!  He has a head of dark hair and lungs that make the loudest noise!

We thought we were going to the hospital the night of May 4th.  I was having pretty regular contractions every 5 min and Aaron was getting pretty nervous since we now live so far from the hospital.  The contractions weren't HORRIBLE, but nothing comforting about them.  So...we called Aaron's mom and dad to stay with Reagan, who was asleep, and off we went.  We called my parents on the way to let them know so they could start driving up from Houston.  We got to the hospital around 11pm (I think).  There were no beds so we had to wait in the hallway for a little while.  The longer we were there, the weaker my contractions got.  They finally got me to a room and hooked me up to a monitor.  After 2 hours of monitoring and drinking whatever fluids they told me to drink, my contractions were nearly gone, no progress made.  The nurse sent me home saying that I was probably dehydrated though my contractions would continue through the night and I may be back soon.  So...against my wishes...we drove 30 miles home.  I was thinking LaQuinta sounded GREAT and MUCH closer!  By this time, my parents had arrived and were at the house when we got back home.

The next morning was NOT fun!  I had contractions ALL night that were getting worse!  So, I laid on the couch hurting while my mom timed contractions.  I was convinced that I was still not in labor.  But, here we go again and this time...the 30 mile drive felt a little longer and REALLY slow!  By the time we got to the hospital I was convinced.  I could barely make the walk to the 4th floor.  Contractions were about 3 minutes apart and very painful!  We arrived at the hospital at 10:30 am.  I was loving my epidural by noon and falling in and out of sleep for about 2 hours.  With each contraction Adam's heart rate would drop into the 60s.  The nurse, Carolyn, got Dr. Kroger in the room REALLY quickly, I pushed twice, literally, twice and Adam was here!  Healthy baby boy!  His heart rate was dropping because his cord was around his ankle, but he was ok.  And, the rest is history.

I had a great and short stay at the hospital.  I was VERY happy to have Carolyn as my nurse.  She was spectacular!  And I was so happy to actually have Dr. Kroger this time around.  I also LOVED my nursery nurse, Julie.  All of these people have special ties to my life in one way or another!  It was great AND I got to go home the next day!

So...after the novel...here are some pictures...

Little Green Tractor

Reagan loves being outside, loves everything that moves fast, and loves her Daddy.  So what better than riding around the yard with her Daddy mowing in the sunshine!
