Take one

It was a beautiful, sunny day.  We had just come home from Ms. Cindye's house and we were all 4 enjoying the beautiful weather!  Aaron was grilling, I was getting last minute veggies ready, Adam was hanging out in the high chair with his puffs, and Reagan was...

YEP!  She was having a blast on the playground and we were having fun watching her!  Little did we know that she would soon test her mommy's nerves!  We were just pulling the meat off the grill and Reagan was climbing up onto her picnic table when all of a sudden she fell of backward and hit her head on a chair that was behind her.  OUCH!!!  I picked her up right away to comfort her.  She stopped crying within a few seconds when Aaron came up behind her and informed me that her head was bleeding.  AHHH!!!  What?!  So...after a mommy freak out moment...we decided that we could probably fix it ourselves.  We cleaned it up with soap and water and then shaved her hair around the cut. Then irrigated again because Mommy was NOT gonna let this get infected!  Then we tried the buterfly bandage with no success.  It wouldn't stick.  Reagan was starving so we let her eat.  At some point she started crying and her head started bleeding again.  So...Mommy called the doctor to get the answer that she knew was coming.  We have to go to the ER...DARN!

We called Nana and Papa to come stay with Adam while we headed into town.  Nobody would have even known there was anything wrong with Reagan.  She played in the dirt...
Ran around like crazy...
Watched the helicopter land...talked to the helicopter...talked to Granny on the phone...and ate gold fish.

When we finally got back to the room in the ER they came to look at her tiny little cut and decided she needed a staple.
So...we wait.  Luckily they had animal planet and Reagan had her puppy and gold fish.
She finally calmed down after about an hour and a half.
But, still had moments of silliness as she shared her goldfish.
Here's the final product.  One staple!  And the crying lasted about  seconds.  And it wasn't from the staple but from being held down.
When it was all said and done we shared some silly moments in the room.
Reagan showed us her boo-boo.
And then Reagan and Daddy started spinning on the stool.  The trauma of the situation didn't last long!  At least we were already in a room, right?!
Reagan did great with the whole thing.  She toughed out the pain and shed only a few tears.  But, I promise Mommy made up for it!  I've seen many things in my career that most people would shy away from.  Things much worse that the cut on the back of Reagan's head.  However, my heart has never ached so much, nor, have I ever been more concerned than at that moment that I first saw her head.  It's true what they say...it's different when it's our own child!
