Ride like the Wind

Well...it's been a while, but here's a brief overview of our trip to New Mexico. We set out EARLY on Saturday morning so we could take to the camper to Hobbs, NM to be fixed. Of course, that's another story in itself! When we finally got to Taos...we threw everything in the camper so we could go grocery shopping. We then threw everything from the grocery store in the camper so we could get Reagan some dinner. Needless to say...the camper was a disaster area for about an hour while we were trying to get kids ready for bed and everything organized and put away! After a late first night...here is the following morning! Both kids ended up in our bed so we could all sleep a little longer!
The first day we took a little family trip to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. It was VERY high, VERY windy, and VERY scary. At least for me! Reagan didn't seem to mind. She walked right up to the edge and looked over! YIKES! Adam, on the other hand, wasn't a big fan of the wind. Despite being in the sling and having a burp cloth over his head, he screamed the entire time.
On our way back to the campsite we stopped at the river of melted snow running down the side of the mountain. However, Reagan was much more interested in the dandelions!
We tried for a family picture, but Adam was asleep in the car!
After our fun family adventure, Aaron went to ride.  This will be a reoccurring theme!
The next day, while Aaron was riding, Reagan, Adam, and I played on the playground at the campgrounds.   Reagan was not a fan of the spring animals.
But, she did discover that the rocks would stay on the window sill of the fort!
When Aaron got back from riding we decided to take a walk around downtown Taos and there was also a craft fair in the park.  We quickly discovered that the double BOB does NOT fit on all sidewalks and people are frequently not willing to divert their path!  So...in my frustration, we began to stroll in the street!  Luckily the speed limit is VERY slow and cars are always watching for people.  We were pretty hard to miss.  I felt like I should have a "wide load" sign on the stroller!
And...that night...the kids were exhausted!  Reagan quickly fell asleep in her pack n' play and Adam fell asleep in his swing, but we moved him to his "box."  You'll see...
The following morning we started all over and decided we would go for a hike UP the mountain biking trail that Aaron would ride later that day.  We started off of 3 sets of legs, but quickly reduced to two!  Reagan was a trooper, but the higher up we got, the steeper the mountain got, the more scared mommy got, and the more tired Reagan got!
Reagan finally gave up and let Daddy carry her.
And then finally gave up and just fell asleep all together!
Adam pretty much slept the entire time with the exception of the first 10 minutes when he was taking a bottle while we walked!  That's talent!
Another attempt at a family picture!  At least you can see the top of Adam's head!
This was our camp area.  We were pretty much the only pop-up surrounded by million dollar motor homes!  We tried to keep everything looking nice and neat, but we could never be quite as tidy as our "neighbors!"
Adam frequented the swing outside so Reagan could run around and Daddy could work on his bikes!
And...again at night.  We must have napped too long this day because Reagan was wound up!  Daddy and Adam, however...not so much!
Another attempt at sleeping in!  However...guess who's up taking the picture?!
After 4 days in Taos, we packed up our camper and headed toward Angel Fire where Nana & Papa would meet us for the race.  Upon arriving at our new campsite Reagan found a new little friend.  We named him Alvin and fed him sun flower seeds.
Here is Adam getting ready to fall asleep in his box.
This is Adam and his $16 can of formula.  Yes, $16.  That is not a typo!  However, when you run out...what do you do other than pay the price that the ONLY grocery store in town has it priced at?!
This is Reagan showing her muscles.  Daddy has been teaching her this and has finally got it down!
On Saturday and Sunday we spent most of the day on the mountain while Daddy practiced.  I made for a really long, but really fun day of running up and down stairs and a mountain.  Luckily we had the double BOB so the kids could rest.  We actually DID push this crazy thing a little way up the mountain!  What were we thinking?!  It actually took 3 of us!
Papa and Mommy hiked up the mountain to watch Daddy race down and catch a few pictures of him riding.  It was a tough climb up, but we made it and caught a picture of this jump.  Aaron says that it's about 7 feet tall but not really hard!  HA!  I think he's crazy!
Aaron after his ride.  He wears so much gear he's not even dirty!
After eating lunch, Aaron and Reagan found some more dandelions!  They are so cute!!!
After a little rest and some food...Aaron decided we should hike up to the finish line to watch!
All in all it was a fun trip!  Aaron placed 4th in his class and now qualifies for the National race in July at Granby, Colorado!  Guess where we'll be in July?!

Upcoming Event!

Many of my next posts, when I get the opportunity will consist of pictures and tales of our first camping/mountain biking trip as a family.  So far...it's been a BLAST!!!  Can't wait to share stories and pictures!  We did, however, realize that at the end of this trip Adam will have lived half of his little life in a pop-up camper!
WOW!

Let's go to the zoo!!!

Since Mommy is on maternity leave, Daddy is on vacation, and Ms. Cindye is closed we've been getting to send spend lots of time together as a new family of four.  This week, before we left for New Mexico, we decided to take the kids to the zoo.  The day was not too hot and not too windy.  Both kids were in a fairly good mood so we set out on our big adventure.

***Just a warning for one of my very dear friends...there is a picture of the "s word" and I didn't want you to pass out***

Reagan loved the zoo...she walked all over and wore herself completely out.  Her favorite animals were in the reptile house and, of course, the spider monkeys.   Or should I say spider monkey!  She also thought she could run down the bridge at the giraffes and face plated on the concrete.  Luckily we made it away from that with only a skinned knee.  Nothing that a little lion from the zoo gift shop couldn't fix!  All in all it was a fun start to another vacation.

Now...check out some pictures:

Adam (in the carseat), Reagan, and Daddy posing in front of the zoo sign!
This was how Adam was enjoying the zoo in his carseat.  Looks about like Reagan's 1st trip to the zoo!

***Warning***Snakes in following picture***

Reagan was fascinated by the rattlesnakes.  Kinda makes us worried that if she sees them in the wild she would try to pick it up!
Next...the flamingos
Then the turtles...sorry no pictures of the turtles!  Only our cute little monkey!
Reagan loved running around the zoo!
And...then about the time we got to the rhinos she had run her little legs off!  But, she quickly found some new, longer legs!
Spider monkeys!  We stayed here the longest.  1) It was shaded 2) Adam decided to wake up to eat 3) Reagan and the monkey were in deep conversation!
See...Adam WAS awake and he DOES have eyes.  Not too sure about the sour little face though!
After our fun day at the zoo...Adam and Reagan napped.  After Reagan's nap we had a snack while Adam napped some more.  Then, apparently, our talks about sharing have paid off!  Reagan decided to share EVERY sippy cup that she has with her Bubba (as she calls him).  Speaking of which...I'm not too sure that she even knows that his name is Adam!  This could be bad!

Snoozin' and Cheesin' with Granny & Opa

We went to Houston, not only to see Granny & Opa, but also to look into purchasing a new-to-us Mommy & Daddy mobile.  Of course, Granny & Opa didn't care why Mommy and Daddy came as long as the grandbabies came too!  Adam pretty much slept most of the time.  He had an occasional open eye followed by a feed-me-cry.  He loved that Granny had blankets everywhere that he could cuddle up in.

Reagan wasn't feeling just real super.  She woke up several mornings with a low grade fever and just acting fussy.  Come to find out the following week...she had a double ear infection.  Poor baby.  However, I have to say...that was her very FIRST ear infection EVER in her little life!  We made it through 17 months ear infection free!  Darn those ear infections!  Despite her ear infection we didn't know she had she was a relatively happy little girl taking every opportunity to cheese for the camera.
I'm pretty sure Opa just had fun being with the babies!  If you're wondering why there are very few Granny and baby pictures...it's the same reason there are so few of Mommy...we're always behind the camera!
And, of course, in true Mommy & Granny fashion we had to hit the mall for a little shopping!  I'm starting to think Reagan has a thing for shoes just like her Mommy!  Better watch out!  This ain't gonna be cheap!  And...as for Adam...he has no idea what he got himself into!  Lucky little boy!  =)

Quality Snuggles

I know...there haven't been as many pictures of Adam!  That's because we're always snuggling with him and there is (imagine this if you can) NO camera in arms reach!  Reagan was never a big snuggler.  She wasn't big on being held or rocked.  However, Adam comes along and loves being curled up into a little ball, swaddled, and held.  HUGE change of pace for us.  So, we're enjoying these moments because they won't last long!  And least we finally caught them in pictures!
