Ride like the Wind

Well...it's been a while, but here's a brief overview of our trip to New Mexico. We set out EARLY on Saturday morning so we could take to the camper to Hobbs, NM to be fixed. Of course, that's another story in itself! When we finally got to Taos...we threw everything in the camper so we could go grocery shopping. We then threw everything from the grocery store in the camper so we could get Reagan some dinner. Needless to say...the camper was a disaster area for about an hour while we were trying to get kids ready for bed and everything organized and put away! After a late first night...here is the following morning! Both kids ended up in our bed so we could all sleep a little longer!
The first day we took a little family trip to the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge. It was VERY high, VERY windy, and VERY scary. At least for me! Reagan didn't seem to mind. She walked right up to the edge and looked over! YIKES! Adam, on the other hand, wasn't a big fan of the wind. Despite being in the sling and having a burp cloth over his head, he screamed the entire time.
On our way back to the campsite we stopped at the river of melted snow running down the side of the mountain. However, Reagan was much more interested in the dandelions!
We tried for a family picture, but Adam was asleep in the car!
After our fun family adventure, Aaron went to ride.  This will be a reoccurring theme!
The next day, while Aaron was riding, Reagan, Adam, and I played on the playground at the campgrounds.   Reagan was not a fan of the spring animals.
But, she did discover that the rocks would stay on the window sill of the fort!
When Aaron got back from riding we decided to take a walk around downtown Taos and there was also a craft fair in the park.  We quickly discovered that the double BOB does NOT fit on all sidewalks and people are frequently not willing to divert their path!  So...in my frustration, we began to stroll in the street!  Luckily the speed limit is VERY slow and cars are always watching for people.  We were pretty hard to miss.  I felt like I should have a "wide load" sign on the stroller!
And...that night...the kids were exhausted!  Reagan quickly fell asleep in her pack n' play and Adam fell asleep in his swing, but we moved him to his "box."  You'll see...
The following morning we started all over and decided we would go for a hike UP the mountain biking trail that Aaron would ride later that day.  We started off of 3 sets of legs, but quickly reduced to two!  Reagan was a trooper, but the higher up we got, the steeper the mountain got, the more scared mommy got, and the more tired Reagan got!
Reagan finally gave up and let Daddy carry her.
And then finally gave up and just fell asleep all together!
Adam pretty much slept the entire time with the exception of the first 10 minutes when he was taking a bottle while we walked!  That's talent!
Another attempt at a family picture!  At least you can see the top of Adam's head!
This was our camp area.  We were pretty much the only pop-up surrounded by million dollar motor homes!  We tried to keep everything looking nice and neat, but we could never be quite as tidy as our "neighbors!"
Adam frequented the swing outside so Reagan could run around and Daddy could work on his bikes!
And...again at night.  We must have napped too long this day because Reagan was wound up!  Daddy and Adam, however...not so much!
Another attempt at sleeping in!  However...guess who's up taking the picture?!
After 4 days in Taos, we packed up our camper and headed toward Angel Fire where Nana & Papa would meet us for the race.  Upon arriving at our new campsite Reagan found a new little friend.  We named him Alvin and fed him sun flower seeds.
Here is Adam getting ready to fall asleep in his box.
This is Adam and his $16 can of formula.  Yes, $16.  That is not a typo!  However, when you run out...what do you do other than pay the price that the ONLY grocery store in town has it priced at?!
This is Reagan showing her muscles.  Daddy has been teaching her this and has finally got it down!
On Saturday and Sunday we spent most of the day on the mountain while Daddy practiced.  I made for a really long, but really fun day of running up and down stairs and a mountain.  Luckily we had the double BOB so the kids could rest.  We actually DID push this crazy thing a little way up the mountain!  What were we thinking?!  It actually took 3 of us!
Papa and Mommy hiked up the mountain to watch Daddy race down and catch a few pictures of him riding.  It was a tough climb up, but we made it and caught a picture of this jump.  Aaron says that it's about 7 feet tall but not really hard!  HA!  I think he's crazy!
Aaron after his ride.  He wears so much gear he's not even dirty!
After eating lunch, Aaron and Reagan found some more dandelions!  They are so cute!!!
After a little rest and some food...Aaron decided we should hike up to the finish line to watch!
All in all it was a fun trip!  Aaron placed 4th in his class and now qualifies for the National race in July at Granby, Colorado!  Guess where we'll be in July?!
