Real life Homeward Bound!

I let Tank and Sasha out on Monday, June 21st in the morning to go to the bathroom.  Nothing new...we do it all the time.  They were outside at 7:30 am and that was the last time we saw them until June 27th at 3 pm.  If only dogs could talk...I'd love to hear their story!  We pulled up in the drive way and Sasha came running around the corner of the house.  Then came Tank!  We were SHOCKED and so excited!!!  I wish I could have a picture of all of our faces.  Reagan was so excited when we got her out of the car!  She squated down in true Reagan fashion and said "TANK!"  She was following them around and patting them on the back ALL night!  We started checking them over and the first thing we saw was Sasha's lip.  It was FULL of porcupine quills.  VERY swollen and bleeding.  They also looked like they had lost a lot of weight and they both had bug bites and cactus all over them!  We started checking them closely and found numerous ticks and Sasha smelled slightly of skunk.  We called the vet 1st thing on Monday morning and took Sasha in.  They put her to sleep and pulled the quills.  The vet put them both on antibiotics saying that they probably ate road kill and he didn't want them to get sick.   Tank had lost 10 pounds and Sasha lost only 1 pound.  Go figure...females NEVER lose weight like males!  =)  But, today they are both eating better and taking their medicine like champs.  They are getting more energy and starting to act more like boxers.  We continue to find ticks on them and cactus.  They are also getting sick on occasion from the antibiotics.  So...for now, they still have a nice little set up in the laundry room where they sleep!  Despite the up coming vet bills...we are VERY EXCITED to have them home and keep loving on them everyday!
